thank you jill...yes i am too long-winded! first timer at this and all. i have been so swamped with my children and a job search that i haven't found time to write anyone recently. i have a lot of material, but not the time to work through it right now.

i need to learn how to do the contact me page and learn about link exchange. i am sure my husband can fill me in...look for that coming soon!

thank you again for your kind words and suggestions.

I am so blessed to have a great mother, as your children most certainly are ;-).

It was only after twenty years that I realized my mom had been training me during my childhood to appreciate the art of cooking, and be a darned good sous-chef. She would have me chop onions, clean leeks, stir the custard until it was ready, knead dough, bang the garlic out of its shell with the side of a knife... she taught me all sorts of cooking techniques as a child, and not only how to do them safely without injury, but how to celebrate and enjoy the marvels of nature, science and beauty while working in the kitchen.

My favorite way to entertain at home is to invite my loved ones to come cook. Time with family in the kitchen, washing veggies, sharing stories, tasting wines, enjoying the sights and smells... it's some of the best nourishment I can think of. Thanks mom!

keep checking in on me and let me know...

Nice start on your blog. Don't burn yourself out by making it consistently very long. The problems with length are that you will eventually start repeating yourself and readers won't give the time to read that long a piece.

I love your thinking and your strength. I do hope that before it's all over you will teach each one of them to sing and dance to "Shall we dance?".

Love,

Roger (the old one)
